A chef’s paridise!

Food for Your Pets! October 20, 2008

Hi! Welcome to Food for Your Pets!!! This is a section where I will tell you a new recipe almost every day, that you can feed to your pets… they’ll love it!

Today’s recipe is for dogs. If you don’t have a dog, you could make this for a friend’s dog. I read about this recipe for dogs in a cooking magazine, and I thought it sounded disgusting! But I made it for my 3 dogs, and they LOVE it! It’s delicious, and good for them, too! So here it is:

You will need: 1 tablespoon olive oil; 2 grated carrots; 1 cup cooked and shredded rotisserie chicken; 3 black mission figs chopped into fourths (if you can’t find black mission figs, any type of fig will be fine); 1 pinch of ground cinnamon; 2 cups chicken broth; 1 cup cooked brown rice

Directions: In a deep skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the carrots and cook until slightly softened, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the chicken, figs, and cinnamon to the skillet and toss. Stir in about half of the chicken broth, then add the rice, and mix it up. Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, until it is all hot. Then stir in more broth as needed, until you get a slightly soupy mixture.

I know, I know, it sounds disgusting… but my dogs could NOT get enough of it!

Have fun cooking!
